My True Love

I'm sitting here, you're sitting there
Giving me looks like you want to talk
Why don't you come over,
And get to know me?

Finally, you do, and it's worth it
You sit down beside me
We chat a while, and I remember
Remember you from a long time ago

You never talked to me then,
For fear of others
You had your girl, and
Your friend loved me
But now we've left that behind.

Sadly, it's time for me to go
I say farewell, will I ever
See you again during our lives?
A kiss on the cheek, and you're out the door

You don't make it far, you turn around to
See me one last time
You know the end is near
When a car hits you in the rear

I run to you immediately
You utter three words before your fate is sealed
-"I love you" and you fade away
Sorrow fills my heart, and then anger
I finally find you, and you're taken away

You were always my true love,
But we never realised it
Why did we have to learn now,
Minutes before you recieved your wings?

I'll never forget you,
I doubt I ever could
Everyone's born with good and evil
And you were mostly good

Once again, you're gone from me
But this time, at least I know
You were meant for me
And that will always be so

I think these thoughts as I sit
in the little coffee shop
Should I venture over to you
Or leave things be?

As you start to come over,
I get up and pay my check
We walk out together,
Never crossing the street

Never a word said between us,
Some things just aren't meant to be
But as we walk hand in hand,
We know we were.
